A pop out cake, also known as a popout, jump out, or surprise cake, is a large object made to serve as a surprise often for celebration. On the outside, it appears to be a very large cake, and sometimes it is partially or mostly cake (in the realm of fiction, it is often made to be entirely cake). However, mostly it's cardboard or other material to form a space in which to hide a person. This person, often an attractive woman (often an erotic dancer), crouches and hides until prompted to stand and "jump out" of the cake to surprise others. This phenomena has become a trope often seen in film and and popular media.

While often sexualized and a form of food play, it can also be done non-sexually as a cute or funny gesture to another participant or even to the viewer.
