poi
A dancing performance art in which the performer swings weights on tethers to create circular patterns. Also refers to the tethered weights used for poi. These weights are sometimes set on fire for enhanced aesthetic and danger sense. Modernly, poi weights also appear as glowsticks in raves.
The art of poi originated from the Maori people of New Zealand.
