When a person/character is trying to gain attention in an image that they are obviously not meant to be the focus of. (Especially when they're trying to stand in front of the focus of the image.)

Photobombing can also be unintentional, if someone's appearance in an image is very distracting from the focus/they stand out a lot.

Tyra (green tiger in front) might seem like she's photobombing were it not for a few things.
1. She's not trying to gain the attention of the viewer or steal it from others.
2. Since she's exchanging a glance with someone, it could be argued that she's supposed to be there/that she's part of the group.
