When a character is shown to idolize someone or something else. ("They're obviously a Marvel fanboy.")

Not to be confused with fangirl, which is a verb rather than a noun; although, fangirling often implies that one is a fanboy.

Examples for Distinguishing

Amy Rose is a Sonic fanboy. Whenever she's around him, she has a tendency to fangirl.
A fanboy of certain comic books may own a lot of merchandise, but they aren't always fangirling.
