Monitor lizards are breeds of very large lizards, found native in Africa, Asia, and Oceania and also in the Americas as an invasive species. They are known for their quite powerful tails, long necks, and strong limbs. Most live on land, though there are a few species that live in trees and some are semi-aquatic.
