A long-running science fiction show (first aired in 1963) produced by the BBC, showing the adventures of an advanced race known as the Time Lords, whose powers are nearly limitless.

The titular Doctor has been played by twelve different actors over the years, with each change worked into the plot as the character being regenerated into a new incarnation after receiving damage that would be fatal to most other species.
