X3 "Rhino" Exosuit (Baselayer) - "YEEN" MOD
Concept art I'll add onto later with a few more parts (lest i forget)
X3 "Rhino" Exosuit - Third eXperimental Full-body Exosuit pattern
Based on the X2 Exosuit which consists of electrically stimulated carbon-fibre muscles designed to drastically improve the users strength, speed and endurance by working in synchronisation with their own musculature, to:
Permit the usage of experimental/heavy weaponry by smaller species whose natural strength might be inadequate
Improve the efficiency and minimise danger to troops in CQB.
Improve the maximal operational range and time of individual troopers by decreasing exhaustion accumulation
Whose synthethic muscles are interwoven with a Kevlar-Polyethylene fibre for improved ballistic, slash and spall/fragmentation protection , granting all of the covered areas a NIJ LVL 3A protection, with most vital areas (Chest, Stomach, Pubic area) seeing increased armorage resulting in a NIJ LVL 3 protection
The X3 codename "Rhino" is a further development into the physical limits of 0-gen exosuits.
Designed as a "brutish" no-nonsense frontliner, the X3 features a double-layer of synth-muscles giving an exponential increase in potential strength and baseline protection from small arms fire to the wearer.
The increased thickness of the suit means that it can no longer in it's entirety adhere to the users natural muscles, requiring a new set of "anchors" to be connected to the user to avoid accidental destruction of the suit, degloving, bone-breaking and limb dislocation among others.
The anchors take shape of cylindrical spikes "bursting" out through the muscle fibres, most notably along the vertabre, shoulders and forearm areas where the surface area is not too small by itself to support the stress added by the additional muscles.
The design of the anchors was a deliberate choice that served as a compromise between form and function, allowing to the usage of the double muscle layers while adding a "devilish" or "wicked" look to the frontline troops that should help in damaging the enemies morale if engaged by a "Rhino" user
Apart from the increase in muscles, the suit comes up-armoured with a titanium/ceramic/composite/armour-steel shell (not pictured) that provides the covered areas with additional protection that should be capable of survivng a direct hit with a 30mm HE shell. The weight added by the aforementioned "shell" limits the time the suit can be used dramatically, therefore it should only be used when the operation is sure to be requiring additional ballistic protection, or is expected to be a quick one
To counteract the added strain on the power system, the suit requires an increased amount of batteries which are situated along the back, the shoulders and hip/buttocks.
The increased weight and volume of the system make it unsuitable for use by "small" species (among others: most rodents, smaller felids and canines) due to the diminishing returns of the X3 which would perform worse in it's intended purpose than an X2.
Another complication that's brought on by the added weight is the fact the suit is incapable to be worn or used by most users in an event of power loss or a similar situation which results in the powering-down or malfunction of the suit, therefore, not mentioning the cost of a singular unit, the usage of the X3 in any scenario should be thoroughly thought-through before deployment.
Just like the other Exosuits, the X3 features a kinetic charging, that in the case of a complete power drainage, should in theory be capable of revitalising the suit and allowing it operate at 15~25% capacity and potentially even recharging the batteriers to a satisfactory degree and allowing the renewal of combat operations.
The "YEEN" MOD is a further "evolution" of the X3 created on request for one of the test pilots who "wished to bite through the opposition"
In lieu of a an enclosed one-piece helmet, the suit comes with a modular headpiece, conisting of a a helmet with an integrated active headset (not pictured), Ballistic face shield (not pictured) and the JAW system.
Consisting of a set of Tungsten alloy teeth, inner mouth lining and multiple strands of high-performance synth-muscle pieces that attach along the users jaw muscles, the JAW system allows the user to bite through their oppostion. From shredding muscles, cutting sinew and powderising bone to ripping through armoured vests, crushing skulls through helmets and biting through opponent weapons, it serves as a powerful close-quarters weapon, both as a physical way of dispatching even heavily armoured enemies, and a mental demoralisator that will make even the most battle-hardy shake as they watch their comrade be ripped apart alive.
Some of the less noticeable additions are the reinfroced claws fitted to the suits fingertips. Not as sharp as mono-filament blades, they offer a brutal and durable way of dispatching foes who're at an arms length, or defending one's self from melee strikes.
Another addition are the "saw blades" mounted along the forearms instead of the usual "anchors". When asked about it, the "user" mentioned them as a "copy of reneissance era sword catchers-breakers", altough their use in the after1-combat reports suggest a far more brutish purpose, in which they serve as additional ways of dealing damage to an enemy during a singular arm swipe
