Cloud the Robot Rabbit ver. 5 (2017)
Cloud White the Robot Rabbit is a key character in Electric Hearts. This post showcases his version 4 and 5 designs. These 2 versions shares their concepts closely, they only differ in art styles. I think the version 4 and 5 are very close to final, but the details can use some works.
Version 5 was created in 2017, while version 4 was created in a long time span between 2014 and 2016. They were both created during my low period as an artist. The drawing process was very difficult, and the result looks stiff and somewhat unfinished.
Before version 4, Cloud was an arctic fox because the species was a popular choice. But an arctic fox has very little potential as an interesting character other than being cute. During the redesign, I reused the huge floating arm design from version 1 for his namesake (Cloud). The enlarged arms needed visual counterweights, so I enlarged his ears and tail to the point I decided to turn him into a rabbit.
Version 4 looks too plain because my mental state was so bad I lost my ability to draw details back in 2014 – 2016. Version 5 has more details catering to the sci-fi genre, but I was not capable of fully executing my ideas back in 2017. But both versions successfully captured the key aspects of Cloud’s concept. I think with one or two more iterations, his concept will be able to reach its final state.

兔型机器人白云 (第 5 版)
兔型机器人白云是我的个人作品“电子之心”中的角色之一。本图集同时展示了他的第 4 和第 5 版设计，因为两者的概念是相近的，仅是风格不同。上图是第 5 版，从概念来说已经接近定型，但细节上可能还有改善的余地。下图则是第 4 版。
第 5 版绘制于 2017 年，第 4 版从 2014 年一直画到 2016 年。都是我处于创作的低潮期的产物，画得特别艰难且生硬。在这之前的白云还是北极狐，但因为这个角色除了好看以外并不有趣。后来想到了通过重新启用第一版设定中的大型浮空手臂来体现白云名字中的“云”，而这又需要大耳朵和圆尾巴来平衡视觉重量，于是就把他改成了兔子。
第 5 版设计主要关注在细节上的精致程度，试图让他在机甲类的细分市场里能进入更多受众的法眼。但可能是因为当时的画功不到家，心理情况也不太好，画得不如第 4 版的灵动。不过整体来说已经把握到了白云这个角色的基本设计思路。再画一版估计就能定稿了。
