"Fewer and fewer people want to become gaurdians, and even most of those are driven by fear and pain."

Well shit, maybe you shouldn't have ruined Nigels chance intentionally or not. Its not like he was fear or anger driven. Yes his parents are shit, but that's beside the point. He was more than happy to honor the family tradition. He only became angry after you rejected him, and you Luna, couldn't even be bothered to check why he had such a drastic change of heart. By the looks of things you probably shouldn't be too picky, and about one trained from birth no less.

Sorry, still annoyed about that, seems like an glaring over sight, and it ruined Nigels life for no good reason.

I guess "Fewer and fewer" becase Nigel was one of many.

Hey I'm mad about that myself, but I think because Nigels was only doing it because of family tradition, He would be unable to unlock his full power. Give the fact that his family have been guardians for generations, I really do feel like there is a hidden dark secret about his family or an old enemy out for revenge, may come into play. And that Nigels as he is or was would be unable to handle it.

I may be over thinking it, but there is a reason he was not ready to be a guardian. (That is, if he is meant to be a guardian to begin with.)

This chapter is giving me some Left 4 Dead vibes...

I remember playing all campaigns with pistols, it wasn't that hard if you had the noisy bomb, i don't want that achievment ever again.

The reason that was given in the story was because it wasn't really his choice. But again the problem with that is he's only 10. Of course he didn't really have a choice. I believe that everyone in these stories become guardians eventually, the reference pages and this post #2352377 kind of imply it. But hey I could be wrong about that.
I just have issues with how Nigel was handled when everyone else was done better. It'll probably be a while but when Nigel is brought back, I'm hoping Luna finds out what happened, and I hope they all realize this isn't his fault. Considering his ref sheet says Nigel himself has a lesson to learn, I'm not sure if that'll be the case. The story has been good so far but that weird instance soured it for me.

I understand what you mean. But you should also look at how far he fell after his parents turned their backs on him. What his parents did was wrong, but it also showed how easily broken his will is. The fact is, that if something like this can break him. Then what hope would he have against the forces of Chaos, that could do way worse?

Logical paradox, thats the term used for those kinds of situations, really it IS kinda luna's fault because she respects life too much.

She COULD have helped tristian by helping him like chili, she COULD have used her god powers to fix a plague (because she heal the elder in chili's village somehow, unless im forgetting) and she COULD have expressed to his parents that pride is a dangerous trait, but she doesn't, because she's afraid to act and probably feels she'd fall back to her well balanced but emotionless self

At the same time, it was her teachings that lead nigels parents down that path of pride, (something i garantee will come back and bite them on The ass) and most likely is causing this "chaos" to grow out of control do to her lack of input like with these people all over the world, considering how they're basically saying their current guardians are weak do to loss and pain, infuring it contributes to the chao's strength.

And the fact its appearing to be a giant formless "unfeeling entity", it could be just luna's old form growing out of control from the neglect.

Either way, i don't see this chaos being killed violently, and, like with nigel, i think our hero's are going to win by doing what luna can't, solving the worlds problems through insight and reflection.

  • I don't know if Gods and Goddesses are borne or appointed, but perhaps it might be time to look into replacements for poor Arala and Ivalli. They're losing a defensive stalemate and have got to bolster their strength, otherwise they're all gonna be standing tall in front of Chaos when the time comes.
