Description
Ight guys, after what was supposed to be a one off dnd session with some good friends, we finally have some lore.
After rumors of unknown alien creatures began spreading through the galaxy, a crew was sent to the homeworld of this alien cryptid, to study and find out anything they could about the creatures, with focus on the following objectives.
- Prove or disprove the existence of these creatures.
- Determine how intelligent they are.
- How they are spreading to other planets.
- Are they a threat.
And they did much better than i expected, but still mostly do to their time limit, they did not learn everything, and not all their conclusions are 100 percent correct, but that's just how discovering new things go.
So here is the grand report, by the very competent, Captain Horatio Lavedor Esq.
Enjoy!

Science report. Captain Horatio Lavedor Esq. of The Shoebox.
For the esteemed institute of xeno biology of the southern galactic empire, I submit my report for exploration mission for the purpose of documenting unknown alien lifeforms on the rimworld of Hafnia-62B.
The Shoebox and crew left port Caledor on the 26th of May, 2235 TS. Expected travel time: 2 week standard burn. Mission length: 1 standard month. 1 week planet side.
Upon arrival on Hafnia-62B search began for the unknown alien species previously reported by the institute.
After brief one day search a creature was located by Chief engineer Chip, it should be noted that CE Chip claims the creature located him rather then the other way around which helps explain the unfortunate position he was caught in by the crew.
Science Officer Naja has made several readings of the creatures and have discovered several interesting features of the creatures hereto referred to as Lavedor Chimera, name pending, findings are as follows:
Physical appearance.
• While the Lavedor Chimera comes in many shapes and sizes we have determined that they take their form from a mixture of genetic material sampled from other sexually dimorphic species.
• The Lavedor Chimera have no interest in female members of other species and seem instinctually capable of determining the sex of living creatures in their near vicinity, unknown how they do this but Dr. Naja suggests some level of telepathic abilities. as the Lavedor Chimera is seemingly capable of perceiving the electrical signals emitted in a creatures brain, and communicate through this ability.
• Internal readings show that the Lavedor Chimera have no hard internals besides the eyes and reproductive organs. The rest of the organs seemingly being made up of a soft gelatin like substance.
• Lavedor Chimera is an entirely female species and at no point have we encountered a male, from what we can determine from their sampled genome, males do not exist.
• While Lavedor Chimera lacks an endo skeleton it seems the white colored areas are surprisingly firm, possibly supporting the musculature with some sort of cartilage not entirely unlike the shark species of Terra.
• The black areas of the Lavedor Chimera are incredibly soft and squishy and quite pleasant to the touch, the purpose of this type of tissue is unknown but might relate to their mammaries.
• The Lavedor Chimera develops very pronounced sexual organs and supports two separate type of “breasts” these breasts are remarkable in that while one type functions much like mammalian breasts do by nursing its young from an extendable nipple, the other type is much firmer and is used to deliver its young, in short they give births through these “breasts”.
Life cycle.
• The life cycle of the Lavedor Chimera is one of stages, much like the butterfly or beetle species of Terra Lavedor Chimera are live born as a larval stage where they feed and grow, when they reach a predetermined size, seemingly based on their parental genes, they seek underground looking for large caves where they can start pupating by secreting a resin like substance that hardens into a leathery texture that envelops the larvae, I was lucky enough to witness the entire process in person.
• After a significant time in their “pupae” they transform into their adult form, the adult form being based on a mixture of Lavedor Chimera genes and the genetic material they have obtained from their male parent. Developing bodyplans that burrows significant features of their genetic parent while keeping Lavedor Chimera internals and looks.
• Lavedor Chimera seemingly develops their spiky features as a way to pierce their pupae and leave it, we witnessed this process in person after a lucky run in in a cave where we witnessed a Lavedor Chimera leave its pupae.
• The adult Lavedor Chimera is sexually mature and immediately ready to “mate” upon leaving their pupae as demonstrated by the aforementioned specimen, their lifespan is unknown but as they seemingly lack natural predators it can be assumed to be significant and varied based on their genetic parentage.
Behavior.
• After capturing a larval stage Lavedor Chimera for study, we have concluded that while mostly passive they do have preferences for their envioment and prefer to stay hidden.
• Adults on the other hand show of a long list of complex behaviors yet seem to love simple lives.
• While their primary goals appear to be obtaining genetic material from whatever nearby male species they can come across they do seem to have a some kind of selection process for what they find desirable, they have been observed to actively seek out isolated members of what they find desirable and shun away from approaching groups, its unknown why they do this.
• At no point have they shown any kind of aggression or forceful behavior, even in the face of rejection.
• Lavedor Chimera have been shown to be easy to train as they will quickly pick up skills or learn concepts they think will improve their chances of copulation, I Captain Horatio managed to teach a specimen to dance at which point it demonstrated the ability to improvise and device its own moves, showing higher level intelligence.
The crew of The Shoebox under command by I Captain Horatio Lavedor Esq. Have as of currently a larval stage Lavedor Chimera (lovingly referred to as Sodsberry)aboard The Shoebox for further study.
Doctor Naja, having run extensive tests have pointed out that no other organism on Hafnia-62B shares any-kind of biological similarities with the Lavedor Chimera which would suggest that it is in-fact not native to Hafnia-62B, as to Lavedor Chimeras natural home we can only guess as nothing in our charter would be a fitting for it.
Lavedor Chimera have no technology as it is for all intends and purposes a wild beast so clearly it would have to have hitchhiked its way to Hafnia-62B from its original home.
Signed by the crew of The Shoebox.
