Description

The so-called "dickworm" parasite has been menetioned several times in the past few years, but all anyone had been able to see were the parasite's eggs. That is, until now.

Research Notes: Dickworms (Rough Draft) - Dr. Aaron Flametongue

The parasite itself is fairly small and bears some resemblance to a Wurmple. Its body is small and a little plump around the middle. Its skin secretes a sticky viscous slime that it uses to assist it in climbing obstacles that are low to the ground. This same slime also acts as both a lubricant and to make certain bodily tissues more elastic.

The parasite prefers male hosts, but it isn't adverse to infesting females or certain types of intersex individuals. It specifically looks for particular scent markers in a potential host.

Once it identifies a desirable host, it patiently waits for them to be in a vulnerable state before it makes its move. In most cases they wait until the host has fallen asleep in a place they can reach, such as a bedroll on the ground or a sleeping mat. They can't climb cots or beds.

Once access to the host has been obtained, the parasite goes directly for their genitals. Whatever genitalia its feelers sense first is what it will infest. In this case, it has discovered a penis.

Specific to this example is its method of infestation. The parasite, and a companion worm, have climbed the penis and utilized their slime to penetrate into the urethra.

Each one gradually works its way to the host's prostate where they will physically turn around and use their ovipositors to locate the seminal vesicles. Once this has been done, the parasite begins laying its eggs directly into the vesicles along with a copious amount of its secreted slime. This makes the glandular tissues more elastic and welcoming for its clutch.

The parasite leaves its host's body the same way it entered once its clutch has been laid. The process of depositing the eggs can take up to two hours, during which time the host may register the intruder's activities as a warm itchy feeling in their lower abdomen that they recall experiencing while dreaming.

In rare cases the process of infestation may actually wake the host from slumber. One can imagine how they'd react to seeing the worm coming out in those situations.

Further, some wasteland tribes deliberately expose chosen individuals to the parasite as part of a ritual or ceremony. The particulars differ between these tribes.
