"What choices do we actually get to make?
Not what we are, often not where we are. We are stuck in tiny settlements, hoping and praying to not be the next victim.
Another statistic, consumed and destroyed by the remnants of something we did not cause. Or, rather, not directly.
The next name in a town's newspaper.
The next name to mourn.
A family left behind.
The list only grows.
Was fate sealed that day?
Was it just the beginning of the end?
I do not think so. Not yet. Not like this.
That day my very identity was taken from me, replaced with hatred and anger. A kind of pain so deep it aches the soul, the very fiber of being until only fury is left.
I cannot remember much of myself, my very name lost in the sands of time. It has taken years, with help and care, to get to where I am now.
There is still much to be done.
There is still a role I must fulfill.
There is still someone I must protect.
This is my choice.
Do not stand in my way."
