Even skinny twigs can have defined abdominals. The muscles tag is for very muscular characters, as stated by wiki.

That should not be tagged with abs because they are barely visible and not defined at all. Even if characters are skinny, the appearance of visible abs are still considered muscles

do we have a difference between muscles and muscular? I have a lot of muscles visible on my arms but I'm not at all muscular

Are you saying that abs need to be a six-pack before saying they're defined? That seems silly. If you can see the muscle lines, it should get the tag, since you can see them.

Then I would say implication denied because it does not always mean they are muscular

maybe implicating toned would work better

I'd say that muscles as it is currently being defined is basically big_muscles in a nutshell, and makes me wonder why we have a tag for them both if muscles isn't the ur-tag for muscles in general.

perhaps use muscles as umbrella tag and then toned and big_muscles to divide it up?

With images that sit between toned and big_muscles just remaining under muscles? Sounds good.

if needed yes, as muscles would be a tag all tag and not really used for tagging alone

Then what would you tag someone who is muscled, more than toned, but not quite Big Muscles territory?

That's my thought on it, but RD is saying "not really used for tagging alone", which when you look at other meta tags we generally have a tertiery tag for whatever aspect they would otherwise tag (with a few notable exclusions, like breasts, for example). Thus why asking what RD would suggest for that replacement tag, if any.

I would use muscular for the in between and muscles as just the big umbrella tag (even if I have to undo some alias that'd be fine)

If everyone thinks this is a good idea

Sorry for a late reply, but...
Beefy is aliased to muscles, so some of those aliases would definitely need to rearranged.

And with 35k images under muscles, I think we need to consider carefully whether we should change it at all. Huge chunk of those tens of thousands of muscles-related tags were added by just a couple of top taggers (forkU and BlackBoltEX), and it'd be good to hear their opinions first.
