There isn't really ever a reason to alias a tag to give it a suffix. A suffix is only needed if the tag's potentially ambiguous, and either the name is unique enough and it's not needed, or it's potentially ambiguous and the name shouldn't be aliased to a specific one (and should instead be aliased to a disambiguation tag).

I'd argue that a mass update would be better. Furthermore, Lavandula (with an "a" instead of an "e") is a genus of flowers commonly known as violets, and flowers used as names is fairly common. However, I suggest the mupdate for futureproofing purposes rather than a full on disambiguation tag as Lavandula/Lavendula would be a rather uncommon name to be used, and we'd most likely think to tag the flowers as violet_(flower) anyway. But if that day ever dawns that another Lav(a/e)ndula ever gets posted here, we'd already be covered.
