Topic: What to do if I find undeniable evidence of a character owner being a predator?

Posted under General

What the title says. Would I need to go around and flag each post featuring the character while providing said damning evidence, or would I need to contact an admin instead in order for action to be taken more quickly? I'm asking because apparently info about this one character owner being a predator has existed since late last year, so I'm surprised their stuff is still up.

Do we take down art for that? I thought this site was (sorta) for archiving art...

No, aside from some extenuating circumstances we separate artist's offsite behavior and their art

You'd get slapped for Abuse of Site Tools for mass-reporting posts that do not violate our Uploading Guidelines.

The only case that would be appropriate is when the character owner is currently underaged, in which case all of their posts will be deleted.
This is due to them being prohibited from accessing the site and thus being unable to control their artworks at all.

That would be the appropriate course of action. Though as @Donovan_DMC has said, we do not really delete artwork due to a character owner's bad behaviour, unless under extenuating circumstances.

If the posts stay up for whatever reason after your reporting, please use your blacklist if you do not wish to see them.
Please do not try to mass-downvote the posts or expose them in the comments, doing so will land you in trouble.

If they have an account here then report their account with links to your evidence. Otherwise I'd go to the private help channel of the discord.

It really depends on the type of offense. Even if the art itself isn't removable, any account they have might be.

Report their account (if there is one), otherwise e621 is the wrong place for this information. If they have been communicating with minors and you know their location, contact local authorities.

Nevermind, turns out the guy's account here on e621 was already banned 3 months ago. It's just that the art he commissioned is still up. But still, thanks for the answers.

Dragging other artists who had nothing to do with the character owner's bad behavior into it is generally a bad idea, mind you. Also, if artwork of a character was removed because the owner is a horrible person, then even artwork of some commercial characters would be removed too, most of which would be fan art the character owner had nothing to do with. It'd also create problems when character owners were previously behaving well and not doing anything evil.

I think it really depends on the specifics of both the art and the offense. I can definitely think of extreme hypotheticals where it'd probably be for the best to take them down, at least from public view.

Not exactly relevant but "adolf_hitler_(artist) ahh moment".

aside from some extenuating circumstances

To further expand on this, harassment campaigns against the site and illegal behavior happening directly on site are some examples of extenuating circumstances
In the end, if it's directly related to the site it's more likely to have some effect on the art being hosted here, but 9.9/10 times on site things will just result in the user being banned and their art being unaffected
