Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: totty_(character) -> totty_(theycallhimcake)

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

TheGreatWolfGang why the downvote? it states the tag owner (who happens to the be the artist) and as seen by olli_(braeburned) there is a precedent for such tag names

The tag alias #78401 totty_(character) -> totty_(theycallhimcake) has been rejected.

Reason: Less vague, specifies whose character she is

There is another character that shares the same name as "Totty", see totty_(tottypom).

In principle, we never alias an ambiguous character tag to a specific character tag.
It would be recommended that you either mass update the tags through a BUR or manually update the tag since it has a low post count.

Alright, should I just delete these two individual alias requests and make a new BUR for both of them?

i mean there is only one other totty and since it such a unique name I highly doubt someone going to mistag a post with a different character named totty

You may manually reject your current alias by going to alias #78401 and clicking on the "Reject" command.
Then, you can submit a new BUR with the command update totty_(character) -> totty_(theycallhimcake) to mass update the posts from the old tag to the new tag.

lets let other people chime in on it first

Alright, will do. Should I include alias plant_mom_(theycallhimcake) -> lili_(theycallhimcake) with it and reject the other alias request for the sake of antireduncancy?

the name Ollie alone has 2 pages of tags I really think that sets a precedent here
and olli has 9 tags

If it is a unique name, it wouldn't be sharing the same name with a second completely unrelated character.

Also, the naming convention for character tags dictate that a *_(character) or *_(character_owner) suffix would not be needed for unique names.
If anything, it should be called simply as totty instead of totty_(character) or totty_(theycallhimcake) if it is truly unique.

Many similar requests have been downvoted & rejected in the past before, but sure, we can give it some time for others to chime in as well.

We typically allow that mistake to slide the first time someone does it, since the main point of suggesting the use of a BUR is to prevent multiple separate thread discussions from appearing.

In this case, since you have already created a new BUR for the character tags, you can reject the old alias requests so that nothing clashes.
