FunkWolfie, do you actually have a reason for downvoting such a inoffensive run-of-the-mill alias?

I agree with dba afish. When alias requests are warranted, there's no reason to downvote them, FunkWolfie.

If they continue to indiscriminately downvote AIBURs with no valid reason, don't be afraid to report them for Abuse of Site Tools.

Thanks for your help, TheGreatWolfgang. I reported FunkWolfie for invalid reasons for downvoting alias requests that are warranted.

where in the rules does it say I need to list my reason for downvoting?

3.1 Abuse of Site Tools

  • Do not use any site tools in a manner that could be construed as disruptive.

[...]

re: disruptive

1.1 Disruptive Behavior

  • Do not make messages with the apparent purpose of upsetting someone. That includes picking fights, baiting arguments, calling names, or making remarks regarding personal grievances, quarrels, or malicious rumors.

[...]

you don't generally need to list a reason, just have one. voting down on something with no legitimate reason is abuse of site tools.

This is very much the place for discussion, especially when you downvote something that gets commonly approved (e.g., plural -> singular, old artist aliases) without anybody else sharing any reasonable objections.
If you'd still rather keep your reasons to yourself, then contest the ruling by contacting the admin who gave you the record in the first place or by approaching the head admin to air your grievances.

I dislike the idea of aliases plural words in general, I can kinda understand why, and i know Im the only one who thinks this. but if a post has two computers it not just one computer it multiple thus plural

Getting that granular with tagging doesn't really help anyone

And I’m sure you also have a very legitimate reason for opposing artist aliases too, right? It’s somehow a good thing for artists' work to be spread across multiple artist tags or for us to identify artists under names they don’t use anymore? I would be delighted to hear your reasoning for that one.
