Topic: Proposal: Fundoshi variant tags

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Currently there are separate tags for fundoshis of every colour of the rainbow, yet inexplicably no tags for distinguishing between style variants which one may argue is a much more significant aspect to specialize on.

I propose adding specialized tags that implicate fundoshi, most notably the distinction between etchu and rokushaku to start, and perhaps adding other less popular styles on an as-encountered basis.

You could use the tool in topic #27288 to get both etchu and rokushaku to at least 100 posts, while finding less popular styles on the way. If that goal can be met, a BUR would be easily justified IMO.

A wiki page for both would also be preferred, for those unaware of the differences.

So in layman terms, rokushaku is the most "popular" one where there is no visible "apron" and etchu is the one where a little apron is in the front?

Note that there is also the wari fundoshi that has an apron as well. It can be thought of as a hybrid between etchu and rokushaku, where it’s a single fabric twice as along as a regular etchu fundoshi, split down the middle along half its length, the two split branches twisted into a waist band in lieu of the sewn string of etchu. See the instructive figures near the bottom of http://chibineco.com/goods_warifun_2017.shtml

The main distinguishing feature between wari and etchu is that the former twists the buttocks section into a thong whereas the latter is just a straightforward fabric passing between the legs.
