but since "commando" can also refer to a soldier, it should be disambiguated.

I'm unconvinced commando would be used to mean a soldier often enough to warrant a disambiguation

Hardly furry relevant but Star Wars is definitely a franchise that popularized the term commando with the Clones

Edit: I found four posts that had both commando and soldier and cleaned that up

honestly, I think going_commando might actually be the better name. it is a colloquialism but it seems like it's a term that's more inline with the tag's actual definition.

the way we define underwear as a tag or a, uhh, tag "particle" is kind of in conflict with the way its used in this tag. generally underwear is used to refer to any form of undergarment, bras included, but no_underwear specifically means "character wearing bottomwear but nothing underneath it", the clothes on the character's legs (or whatever) are the only things that come into question, and that is, from what I understand, exactly what "going commando" means.

Can confirm that that's the full phrase/term
Source: As a kid I had textile-hypersensitivity so I became quite familiar with the term

I still think a literal term is preferable to a slang one.

it would be if it was accurate, but it's not; "going commando" describes a fairly specific scenario and calling it no_underwear means there's potentially more room for confusion for what the tags for. beyond the issue that I described above, there's also the problem of the tag often being used on posts whose characters who aren't wearing bottoms at all, and, only reading the tag's current name, these would appear to be valid uses, but they're not.
"going commando" is a slang term, but it's a more specific and accurate one as well.

this is a really old alias and I think we should reexamine it.
