Topic: Inverted Blacklist

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

So what about adding a feature that let's you turn your blacklist into a white list? I'm thinking it would be extremely useful to have it at the bottom, where you normally enable and disable tags.

It would make it easier on the user to stick with a small list of approved images, or to have it so that they can easily remove favorites with specific tags.
I cringe whenever I write "fav:maser young -rating:s" because a random old image got a young tag.

you can already add negative items to the blacklist. adding -fav:me to any line of your blacklist will mean it will still show stuff from that blacklist item if its been favorited by you.

Nah. I'm not trying to make sure I keep seeing these things, I want to be able to hide everything in my favs other than blacklisted items so that its easier to remove them.

Another benefit of the white list would be that you could also block images that you don't want to see without worrying about the extremely specific list of tags on this website.

I don't see how a whitelist would help with this any more than just searching your favs for all of the stuff you want removed... although if you wanted to, you could add the blacklist item ~-young ~rating:s, to use your example of only wanting to see your favs that are young -rating:s.

that just sounds like functionality that the blacklist already has.

Yeah this just sounds like someone that doesn't actually want to blacklist the things they dont want to see, and instead wants to only see a specific thing (but also doesn't want to search for it?)

We have e621:blacklisting_suggestions, it should be very easy to blacklist what you dont want

Also if you're removing favorites after the fact based on tags that were later added to the post, you should really either reconsider your tastes or private your favorites and/or stop caring if other people see you have a post with X tag in your favorites

And aside from all that on the actual feature, blacklisting is already entirely clientside so it can cause entire posts of pages to be empty, whitelisting would just exacerbate this problem with likely several pages on a row being entirely blank unless you're specifically searching for things, which at that point what's the point in a whitelist
