This makes sense to me. I can't think of a scenario where you could add this tag without the Pokeball being visible. Maybe if the catching is happening from off-screen and you can only tell through context that it's the Pokeball catch effect? That's too minor of an edge case for me to be convinced otherwise.
What do you want to do about throwing_pokeball? I don't think throwing is necessarily using (when I think of a Pokeball in use, I think of it actively catching something). There are plenty of inert Pokeballs being pelted at creatures from off-screen in the results. It's beyond the scope of this alias, but I'd probably implicate pokeball for that one in a follow-up if this gets approved.

Wasn't aware that tag existed. I didn't make the tag (Nin10Dope did), so they'll have to weigh in on what they think. My initial instinct is to alias them, but like you said, there may be edge cases where pokeballs are thrown but not activated.

You're right that throwing isn't using. There's plenty of art where someone is just repeatedly throwing the ball and hitting someone who either isn't a pokemon so that's the joke, or someone who's already owned by another. Same with open pokeballs, there's plenty of posts where one is either broken in half or just left hanging open and doing nothing
