Topic: Noob question regarding "Neutral Record"? What is it?

Posted under Off Topic

Hey I've been using e621 for a while now, but I've never really gotten into any trouble until now. I got bot message saying that my message was marked as a troll comment, and now I have a "neutral record"? What does that mean? Is it something I should be concerned with?
All I did was point out that there was a group of people going out of their way to downvote images with pride flags (which was actually genuinly true). I swear to God I wasn't trolling, I was being dead serious. But it was flagged at "trolling" by a bot. I tried to respond to it pleading my case, but it's a bot and likely will not respond. What do I do now? Is my account screwed forever?

I've got two marks against me and I'm still here. I'm not a moderator, but I believe a neutral record is just a warning. I wouldn't worry about it.

bring it up with the mod who gave you the record, not the automated message, in your case it would be Versperus https://e621.net/users/203592

but also a neutral record is not the end of the world, you'll be fine!

To confirm LonelyLucario, neutral records are just warnings. If you hypothetically happen to continue the behavior, you'd next get a negative, then a tempban, finished with a permaban. It's possible to get multiple neutrals/negatives if they're for different things, and sometimes steps will be skipped if something is particularly egregious.

As Manitka says, if you'd like to contest your record, you can make your case (respectfully) to the Mod or Admin who gave you the record. If that doesn't satisfy, you can escalate it up the ladder, either to an Admin (if it's a Mod who gave you the record) or to Head Admin NotMeNotYou.

Whether you choose to appeal or not, you can still wait six months, and if you've not repeated the behavior that got you the record, you can ask for your record to be decayed by a level, by staff discretion. Tempbans become negatives, negatives become neutrals, and neutrals get removed. Repeat every six months.

I would advise looking up our e621:rules page for a more in-depth understanding of our site rules, the types of records handed out (e.g. neutral, red, bans), and the proper procedure of removing records or disputing them.

If the mod never responded to you like in my case, email [email protected] and pray they answer. I haven't personally had any luck trying to get a response that way but that's the proper procedure according to some pages, I know if you get banned from the Discord you're supposed to do that.

It seems like escelating would be my only option now, even though I really don't want to. I don't like having to deal with descriminatory behavior, but at the same time I feel too scared and too emotionally weak to fight this issue. My sense of justice is strong but my courage is fragile.
If I did decide to escelate, who would be the best admin to talk to?

Interestingly enough, you can't see the grey record's details, so no one even knows what you did or didn't do. But just wait 180 days and you can make it vanish!

If you mean OP, then staff members and the user themselves can see that comment.

Everyone can read it. It's a double-edged sword because it can give people(users, not staff) prior warning of particular bad behavior, but it's also used as ammunition against you in comments and forums somewhat infrequently. Especially if you're arguing with another user. The part that is up to the staff member that handled the record is whether or not to Hide the [Source] on the record, so it'll either take you to the source or just an Access Denied page
