i think something like order:artist would be nice, perhaps the actual artist sorting could be alphabetical, or artist tag creation date?

I can kinda see the appeal.
Like you want to look at art of a particular character its neat to see all the art from the same artist together.
But yeah, that system would completely break with multiple artist tags.

Absolutely. I have no clue how the server would react to that ordering condition other than ignoring any artist tag that isn't the highest alphanumerical seniority. Ten artists collabed on a video? Too bad, the only one for the ordering is "!1!"
Granted that on paper, besides that problem, this ordering does appeal as a niche way to view content.
Depending on how far that ordering goes, from either one or a few pages at a time or every server hit simultaneously, that could be an obnoxious impact on processing

kinda tangential, I've thought about the idea of being able to wonder to restrict wildcard searches by category. so, artist:a* would only show posts whose artist has a name that starts with a.

although I know that wildcard searches only grabs up the first, like, 16 or something tags by population, so it probably wouldn't actually be that useful in this case.
