Topic: What’s this type of line in art called?

Posted under Art Talk

So I saw this post https://e621.net/posts/4026859 and was like “what is it called when there’s a line drawn to make two same colored areas more clearly shown?” Like the lines that are shown when the same colors are phasing or colliding together and then there’s a different color line drawn to make the two areas more distinguishable. For example, in the post I linked, the fox’s arm is the same color as his body, so there’s a different colored line drawn around his arm when his arm is inside the body area. I am asking this because I am a new artist and want to implement this type of line style into my drawings but don’t know what it’s called to properly google or search for it.

Technically it’s a form of lineless art lineless

Minimal lines to block out same colored areas.

Seems like what I was looking for. Appreciate the response.

you're welcome! i always adore the lineless stuff myself

Is it still lineless if they made it just using shape tools? I used to do that in paint-like software before because it's fun and easy. Just click and drag to pop out a circle or something

yep! as long as it's not lined or has minimal lines for defining shapes it's lineless,
