Topic: [Dumb Site-Functionality Question] Permalinks to individual comments within threads?

Posted under General

Sometimes I feel the desire to link someone directly to a specific forum or image comment rather than saying "oh well hey go look it's somewhere on page 3 :B." This is especially fragile to do due to comment upvotes/downvotes on comments in image-threads.

Is there a tool for doing that here? I may have missed it. I didn't spot the (usually) needed <a name="something something"> in the source but that doesn't mean there's not a cool DText-ey way of doing that otherwise.

You see my Avatar? Click the time above my avatar and simply paste them the URL, that works for everything except the OP on a thread, which will always link to the entire thread.

Change the numbers at the end of '/forum/show/89294' to the numbers featured in the 'Report' link of this post, and it'll just show this post, so they already have unique IDs, it's just a matter of using them as a permalink...

[edit] never mind, I got beaten to it...[/edit]

Click the timestamp of the post (in between the user's avatar and account level) to get a link directly to the post itself. If you want to link to the comment within the thread itself, click on the "Post in forum #..." link at the top of that page (the page with just the post itself).

I didn't see anyone else here explain that you can link to a post within a thread, only a link to the single post itself. I figured that what I explained is what the OP was actually wanting.

Specifically mentions the OP posts the link to the thread, not just to that post inclusive. :>

If I do what NotMeNotYou says, this is what I get: https://e621.net/forum/show/89431

NotMeNotYou was only saying that if you post https://e621.net/forum/show/89294 it will always display the whole thread, because it's the first post in the thread. He doesn't mention how to display the entire thread WHILE simultaneously jumping down to the post that you actually want to show. That's the difference between his explanation and mine.

:o You showed me. o_o I was just being a bit of a goof and playing around, since it's not often you get to poke at an admin about something like that, and you remained calm and cool with your replies and illustrated just how wrong I was. That's appreciated. ^_^

Also: Sorry for being a goof.
