Topic: Cleanup of valves and nozzles

Tag problem

Yesterday I found a post of a living_inflatable where you could see the little hole with a linked cap you blow into (called an oral inflation valve on Wikipedia). Finding inflatable_valve (22) has more uses than or inflatable_plug (12), I tagged that. So this morning, I started going through the living_inflatable tag to TWYS it and specific uses like inflatable_valve_nipples and inflatable_valve_navel.

Then I found the tag nozzle at almost 1,600 uses. And the wiki lists several anatomical uses like belly_nozzle and nipple_nozzle. As the wiki puts it, "A nozzle is a device used to control or modify the flow of a fluid or gas," but that can also easily describe a valve.

When I Google "nozzle", I get pictures of little metal parts with the occasional garden hose attachment or gas pump (which also in results to the tag). They are all something that exclusively lets out or injects a fluid, but not receiving them like the oral inflation valve can. There's even more tags that make this confusing.

  • The valve tag is for the company, valve_(mechanical) is for the object.
  • When I Google "air valve", I get far more pictures of metal parts with screws (specifically an air-operated valve, a pneumatic equivalent of a solenoid), handwheels, or levers than the plastic inflatable part. When I search air_valve on e621, I get more plastic valves.
  • handwheel has only 4 uses, and one is actually a steering_wheel. 🤦‍♂️

Tag definitions

This needs a lot of clean up to tag valves and nozzles correctly. I'm fine with working with these definitions; gimme feedback.

  • nozzle: a device designed to control the direction or velocity of a fluid leaving an enclosed space by restricting the size of the exit. At its fundamentals, it is a single piece with no moving parts necessary, and is always an outlet.
    • sprinkler: a type of nozzle with one or more moving parts that assist in dispersing a liquid or aerosol from it.
  • valve_(mechanism): a togglable device designed to control the direction or amount of a fluid going through it. At its fundamentals, it has one moving part and one static part. It may be an outlet, or on the way to one (such as a nozzle).
    • faucet: a type of valve opened or closed by various means (handwheel, knob, lever, movement sensor, pushbutton, et cetera) with an arched, overhanging shape. Exclusively for liquids, it is associated with indoor plumbing or drawing from one reservoir to another.
    • handwheel: a type of valve opened and closed by means of a wheel attached to a disc or ball-shaped pipe inside the valve. Durable and made from metal (maybe with some hard plastic).
    • inflatable_valve: a type of valve present in most swim toys and beach balls, meant for receiving a gas. The port and cap are ordinarily one piece but can open and close due to elasticity of plastic, forming a hinge or flex-spring.

Let's wait to start any BURs for living_inflatable anatomy until after the difference between nozzles and valves are sorted out.
