Topic: There gotta be better terms for these.

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

seiza, wariza and yokozuwari.

I feel like there absolutely has to be better terms for these poses than Japanese words that are not exactly part of standard English vocabulary. These describe extremely common seated poses, but they are disproportionally undertagged most likely because these terms are so obscure, and for most even discovering the tags would require deep diving into wiki.

They also seem prone to misuse. Some instances of seiza (sitting on one's own feet) being tagged wariza (w-sitting with the legs backwards to the side of the butt):

Some plain sitting without the lower legs visible:

And plenty of yokozuwari (sitting with legs out to the side) being tagged when they're more lying on_side and propping themselves up with an arm, not sitting:

And yes, these names are completely unintuitive for people interested in tagging or searching for the intended poses.

seiza could be aliased to sitting_on_heels (or sit, if that's preferred)
wariza has an alias that can be reversed: w_sitting but another option is split_sitting
yokozuwari can become sideways_sitting (or just side_sit for brevity)
