Reason: The Elder Scrolls series is owned by Bethesda, and I’ve been seeing a lot of elder scrolls posts lacking this tag, rather than tagging them manually it’s probably best to put an implication.

The Elder Scrolls is owned by Microsoft (who owns Zenimax and Bethesda Softworks, whom Bethesda Game Studios works under), and there are Elder Scrolls games not developed by BGS. The Elder Scrolls Online is developed by a separate studio, for example.

I’m unsure why this changes anything. Yes, Microsoft owns Bethesda, but it’s still a Bethesda IP.

The Elder Scrolls Online would imply The Elder Scrolls, which would then be falsely implying Bethesda Game Studios as the owner of that game

It isn't. Bethesda originally created it, but once they were bought, Microsoft took ownership of it. It's actually even more complicated than that, since there isn't a single "Bethesda" company. The series was originally created by Bethesda Softworks, a game development and publishing studio. But around the turn of the millennium, they were restructured under the ZeniMax Media banner, Bethesda Softworks became a publisher only and the development studio was spun off into Bethesda Game Studios (which itself was later split into separate groups in Texas (themselves having been separate development studios bought and renamed), Canada, and Maryland). Then Microsoft bought ZeniMax Media, which included both Bethesda Softworks and Bethesda Game Studios.
