Topic: What is the "lore" tag for? [Now with BUR!]

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I don't mean the lore category, I mean the general tag literally called lore. It has no wiki description yet hundreds of tagged posts, but I cannot see a commonality between them.

Updated

It looks like it just refers to an arbitrary amount of descriptive text lmao.

The tag seems "useful" in cases there's a lengthy story literally written on the art itself but I can't imagine it ever being used consistently.

It largely seems to be used for posts with story or backstory/character introductions.

There's about 150 there that are tagged with model_sheet and 93 with comic

Updated

It looks like if the image has any implication of lore, in the most basic sense, being present
Be it backstory, origin, explanation, etc.

a tag with this function exists, backstory's got similar population and it's prolly a better name as well.

I tend to agree that lore doesn't seem like a TWYS friendly tag

I think backstory and lore are misstags. Story covers everything whether the story/lore/backstory is in the image or description, so maybe they should be aliased.

I like to think that at least backstory has a niche that specifies the story's context
But I don't feel strongly enough to not support an alias

I think backstory specifying that it's information about a character but isn't directly related to the content of the post seems valid to me.
