The bulk update request #11216 is pending approval.

create alias burglar (254) -> thief (1530)
create alias robber (275) -> thief (1530)
create alias highwayman (10) -> thief (1530)
create alias pickpocket (36) -> thief (1530)

Reason: These are synonyms.

See topic #56982 for discussion on whether we should keep the thief tag at all.

I still think burglar would be the better word to use
It has a more stereotypical appearance that people understand
Even the older Pokemon games used it as a trainer type

Bumping this because I've just made a bunch of BURs to clean up other thievery-related tags, and have added two more synonyms to this one since creating it.

Re: burglar, not only does thief have more tagged uses, but I don't hear it nearly as often in everyday speech. It's only used when formally discussing the crime of burglary in my experience.

Thief is also a common class type for RPGs, someone who focuses on stealth and subterfuge, and isn't always equatable to a robber/burglar. See fantasy thief for some examples.

We have the rogue tag for that.
