I'm not super familiar either, but I personally think that in most cases, the name most people are familiar with should be used.

I'm not overly familiar with it either but I'm trying to think of a parallel case of a character with a later revealed true name
I know when it's a thing like Pokemon and the shows characters, aliasing the un-localized names to the later announced English names is the norm, but I don't know about when they're both the same language

Okay I found an example: Joker_(persona_5) got aliased to his later canon name even though you could argue that more people recognize him as Joker from both his source games and from Smash Bros
