Topic: Got any "guilty pleasure" songs?

Posted under Off Topic

Before I start let's get something straight with what I mean. When I say a guilty pleasure song, I mean a song that you can acknowledge has some problems, understand why it could be disliked by others but still like it personally, or if you could have someone tell you that there are better songs to listen to you wouldn't disagree or be too upset about it. And please don't just put songs you like or have a nitpick or minor gripe with as there's another forum you can populate for that. And no walls of text. I already make enough of those myself.

Goldlink - Crew (The music playing behind the vocals is nostalgic. Don't care for the lyrics that much. Also keep getting reminded that "geeking" was a term I only heard back in high school from this song. And I swear there's female vocals I'm hearing that's saying "daddy" if I listen close enough.)

In The Name Of Love (The vocals around the hook is probably the only reason I still like or even remember this. Other than that, I don't really see another reason to come back to this one.)

B.o.B. with Bruno Mars - Nothing on you (The music is nostalgic. Lyrics aren't the worst, but still a bit mediocre.)

Fabulous featuring The Dream - Throw it in the bag (This whole song is like a throwback to way back when, especially with the music but I can still see why this is a pass for some. There's also a remix of the music, although it's slightly different from the actual song)

Surf Mesa - ily (i love you baby) (I honestly don't have a clue why I listen to it. More often than not I skip it if it shows up on my playlist or just let it play every now and then.)

Victoria Monét - On My Mama (This is like a throwback to the 2000's music I heard. Especially with the "swag" term being used. If I remembered most of what I heard back then, I could make a list of songs that use "swag" as a lyric.) Anyone remember that one song Party with Beyonce where one of the lyrics was "dripping swagoo" (or something like that)?

Ari Lennox - Waste My Time (Something about the entire song make me think of the 2000's era of music and I'm all for it, although I can understand if someone's looking for more from the lyrics.)

One more thing that slipped my mind the first time
Kennedy Stephens - Everyday (If I had three words to describe Christmas music it would be oversaturated, unoriginal, and infuriating. But this song is one I don't mind, or maybe I'm just saying that because this song has the smallest hint of flavor and it's better than most of the bottom of the barrel tracks in comparison).

Hard to pinpoint a specific song, but anything by Limp Bizkit. People disliked his songs and style (especially other metalheads). I'm more into progmetal or alternative metal, but I admit my guilty pleasure is to search (once in a while) break stuff or nookie :))

I've got a couple of mainstream songs in my playlist like American Boy.
That is probably the closest I'll get to a guilty pleasure, because I find mainstream music lyrically and musically uninteresting.

Vylet pony, the issue for many being, pony.
Still finding unpony sentiments in the world feels strange to me.

Nowadays I'm listening to Cocomelon, but I understand it might not be apporpiate for advanced listeners that already know their ABCs 🥺

Ruler of Everything by Tally Hall was a song I listened to almost daily at a pivotal point in my life, which years later went on to become a meme song of all things. Actually, I don't really listen to any of their stuff anymore, but now that you mention it I guess Tally Hall in general would have qualified as a guilty pleasure. I won't name any names (since it is subjective) but I generally detest any and all "internet bands." You know, musicians who make music that sounds like utter garbage and never gets any recognition anywhere, but are "quirky and ironic/faux-deep" in a way that their stuff gets popular in no-lifer circles. And yet for some reason or another Tally Hall found themselves in that sphere of perception, despite the fact that pretty much all of their songs you could put on the radio and people would just bop to it without thinking twice.

Besides that, I listen to a lot of soundtrack music and covers of vocaloid songs. Doesn't fit my persona that I let other people have of me, so I keep it all under wraps. After all, if the people in my life knew I jam to that shit 24/7 they'd definitely cringe. The Power is a really phenomenal one I picked up that's comparatively recent.
