Is there a difference between foot fetish and foot focus?
Apparently yes, but I wouldn't be able to tell....
Is there a difference between inflation and expansion?
Apparently yes again.....
And many more, too many tags are very samey.
Maybe I'm not seeing the point in all of these tags, but hypnosis fetish and hypnosis could be different in a way we both don't see like inflation and expansion if you ask me.

foot_fetish is supposed to be for when a foot is being expressly fetishized in the image. For instance, a foot being worshipped, or licked, or used for sexual gratification. It's not for when feet are simply depicted in a "fetish image", so being the focus alone is not sufficient for the foot_fetish tag (of course, it's a common mistag, which I try to fix when I notice it). That goes for other body parts too.
Like most of the other *_fetish tags, I would assume that this would be used for hypnosis specifically for the purpose of sexual gratification. Anything under hypnosis rating:s would be excluded by default, and even some rating q and e would be excluded if the rating is merely due to nudity or gore and nothing sexual is taking place.
I don’t have a terribly strong opinion either way, but there is precedent for tags like this.
(Side note: a lot of hypnosis rating:s is misrated, but still…)

I think trying to disentangle this is a lost cause. The nature of a fetish is to sexualize something that isn't inherently sexual, so it's impossible to know whether a non-sexual situation is fetishistic.
For example, I think this image (rated Safe) is almost certainly fetishizing both hypnosis and maid outfits, but it doesn't depict anything sexual. Should it be tagged with hypnosis_fetish? We could ask the author if it's fetish art, but then we're departing from TWYS.
I don't like the fetish tags for this reason. They're making a subjective judgment of an image, often based on external information, in a tagging system that's supposed to be objective. I think they could have a valid use in identifying when a character in the image demonstrates a fetish, but that's a rather narrow use case.

I don't see anything being fetishized in that image. For the purposes of the *_fetish and related tags, a character needs to be shown as getting sexual gratification from it, not simply be titillating to the viewer. With that example, the hypnosis and maid outfit are simply depicted in the image, no one is depicted as getting sexual gratification from it.

I agree that's how the tag logically should work, but that's not at all consistent in the posts currently tagged with hypnosis_fetish. (Or the other *_fetish tags, for that matter.)
