Topic: Tag implication: asylum, prison, etc. -> institutional_conefinement

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

New proposed tag: institutional_confinement

Scope: This tag would cover settings and characters specifically associated with restrictive, high-control institutional environments — particularly those involving confinement, treatment, or incarceration.

Proposed implications:

asylum -> institutional_confinement

padded_room -> institutional_confinement

prison -> institutional_confinement

prisoner -> institutional_confinement

medical_bondage -> institutional_confinement

Excluded: Schools, regular hospitals, government offices, and other non-restrictive institutions.

Rationale: The emphasis is on environments where individuals are under surveillance, restricted movement, or control, such as psychiatric facilities and prisons. This avoids overreach into general institutions and keeps the tag narrowly focused on the “confinement” theme.

Firstly, do not hide the old thread. The previous discussion should be maintained as the points already mentioned may still be relevant to this current discussion.
By hiding the previous thread, you make it look like you are trying to erase any opposition to your idea and to start with a clean slate.

Secondly, this is not the appropriate way of requesting for mass tag implications. Please use a Bulk Update Request (BUR) and submit your request there.
Typing out the request like this does nothing and the system will not acknowledge it as an actual tag implication request.

Thank you for informing me. That was definitely not my intention by hiding the previous one, I just didn't want redundancy. I actually did this taking the feedback I received into account. And I'm new to the site and didn't know about the bulk update request. Appreciate the explanation! Is there a way to unhide the previous post?

I'll try this one more time as a bulk update request and if it's rejected I'll just drop it there

No, only mods and admins can unhide a forum post.

I can see that you have made the BUR on topic #56679, which is good.
You would be able to edit your BUR to include any changes if you wish.

For it to be approved, you would need to make a convincing argument that these changes are going to be beneficial.
There will be opposing comments, which you can either counter, ignore, or suggest compromises/alternative ideas to help garner some support to your BUR.
