remove alias bi-color_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias bi-colored_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias bi-tone_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias bi-toned_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias bi_color_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias bi_colored_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias bi_tone_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias bi_toned_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias bicolor_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias bicolored_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias bitone_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias bitoned_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias double_color_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias two-tone_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias two-toned_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias two_color_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias two_colored_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias two_toned_hair (0) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove alias two_tones_hair (8) -> two_tone_hair (74447)
remove implication two_tone_hair (74447) -> multicolored_hair (133573)

Reason: short version: suggest we switch FROM two_tone_hair TO two_color_hair. (because TONE isn't the same as COLOR)

Want to replace two_tone_* tags because they confuse TONE with COLOR.
Starting with two_tone_hair tag to stay in simpler-range and avoid getting bogged down.

See topic #24546 for forum discussion involving TONE vs COLOR. (Presumably stalled by being too TL;DR and complicated)

two_tone_hair says:
"When two different color hues exist in a single character's hair. Not to be used when only two shades of one color are used."
(i.e. do NOT use tag when hair two shades of SAME color: example LIGHT BLUE and DARK BLUE.)

https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/tone
says tone is:
"... A tone is one of the lighter, darker, or brighter shades of the same colour. ..."

tags that alias to two_tone_hair: bi-color_hair, bi-colored_hair, bi-tone_hair, bi-toned_hair, bi_color_hair, bi_colored_hair, bi_tone_hair, bi_toned_hair, bicolor_hair, bicolored_hair, bitone_hair, bitoned_hair, double_color_hair, two-tone_hair, two-toned_hair, two_color_hair, two_colored_hair, two_toned_hair, two_tones_hair

***

Since old tag is two_tone_hair, (note: NO "d" after tone)
suggest tag to alias TO be two_color_hair (ie. to match style of two_tone_hair)

[REMOVED 1st draft of BUR part2]

Updated

Since 1st 3 votes are all thumbs-down, I've revised suggested part2 of BUR into:

update two_tone_hair -> two_color_hair
alias bi-color_hair -> two_color_hair
alias bi-colored_hair -> two_color_hair
alias bi_color_hair -> two_color_hair
alias bi_colored_hair -> two_color_hair
alias bicolor_hair -> two_color_hair
alias bicolored_hair -> two_color_hair
alias double_color_hair -> two_color_hair
alias two_colored_hair -> two_color_hair
imply two_color_hair -> multicolored_hair

(Above is withOUT the *tone* -> two_color_hair aliases that were in earlier version)

***

OLD version of part2 which none of first-3 voters liked:

part 2 of BUR (draft):
alias two_tone_hair -> two_color_hair
alias bi-color_hair -> two_color_hair
alias bi-colored_hair -> two_color_hair
alias bi-tone_hair -> two_color_hair

alias two-toned_hair -> two_color_hair
alias two_colored_hair -> two_color_hair
alias two_toned_hair -> two_color_hair
alias two_tones_hair -> two_color_hair
imply two_color_hair -> multicolored_hair

I think you are being misled about the word TONE. What is being discussed here in your source is Tint.

As for this, I suspect there have been other discussions, but this is directly related to color theory.

Also two_tone_* is a huge family of tags, it would be strange to change just one section of them.

The definition excluding two shades of the same color seems like it might not be necessary? we could just update that part instead of changing the name

topic #24546 got bogged down and has had no discussion for two years.
Thought i might get some progress if I simplified:
(step 1: dealing with two_tone_hair,
then moving on to the other two_tone_* tags)

...

by my source i assume you mean collinsdictionary.com

(but let's look up tint before getting to Collins dictionary)
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/tint
"A pale or faint tinge of any color; especially, a variation of a color obtained by adding white
(contrast shade)"

So in a way shyryp is right (in that tint can be involved in TONE),
BUT ... SHADE is involved in the darker version of same colors.
ie. we start with one color:
A lighter version of example-color is achieved through tint.
A DARKER version of example-color is achieved through SHADE.

(Since https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/shade says
"A variety of a color, in particular one obtained by adding black")

*

lets throw a bit of other dictionary at this (because of all the down-votes):

1) https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/tone
"9." / "The shade or quality of a colour."

2) https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/tone
"7 a... (2): a tint or shade of color"
