Topic: The FurID Gallery

Posted under General

As per the news, if somebody hasn't seen it yet:

April 9th: Our dedicated FurID gallery is now live. Thank you all for the submissions to our little April Fool's prank, we hope you had as much fun as we did!

It makes me happy to see that a way was found to archive these without compromising the quality controls of the website. Despite all the critical comments from people, I really thought this resulted to be one of the most wholesome things I've seen e6 do in a long time. The page has quite a nice look too.

It's a little sad there's no mention of the uploader though. Attribution aside, it would be fun to know who uploaded each one. Of course I can just retrieve the ID from the file name and manually navigate to the post, but that's effort... There's also 722 approved posts(!!!) so being able to click those and navigate to the post to be able to upvote them would easily be helpful.

I get the feeling that any post put up after April 1st made via furID didn't make it on there.
I looked for mine, didn't find it, and I went through it 3 times over to be sure.

Need to mention this somewhere and this is the first forum mention of it I've found.

If you want to see if your post is in the archive follow this:

1) Check your deletions for the post number of your FurID, copy it you'll need it later
2) Directly open a FurID by right clicking and select open image
3) Highlight the filename in the direct image url, it should just be that FurID's post number
4) Replace the filename with the post number of the post you want, press enter and it should serve you the FurID you're looking for.

The only ways this wouldn't work are if your FurID wasn't under the proper tag and got left out, your post was deleted prior to being archived on the 9th, or you uploaded your post after they were archived on the 9th.

Interestingly their post (post #5479031) seems to meet those criteria, yet isn't in the archive.

  • Tagged with furid_(e621) upon upload
  • Deleted on 2025-04-09 with the reason "Thanks for taking part in our April Fool's event for 2025! You can find all the collected FurIDs here: https://e621.net/static/furid"

I selected 25 posts at random and post #5476304 was the only one uploaded after 2025-04-01 that was archived, but being the early hours of the 2nd, could just be a timezone thing? It really does seem like only posts from the 1st were archived.

Well I'm sure there was such an influx of people who uploaded that it wouldn't be feasible to post all of them. I'm fairly certain that memorial is user made and was posted anonymously. It's just pinned by the staff so people can see it. I'm sure making a post with every single fur id post would be a massive undertaking given the time needed to search them all up and post each one with upload limits and file limitations. I thought it was fun and a charming way to identify someone with a user generated oekaki. Fun stuff but yeah it's sad that it had to go but it's an idea for later additional content I guess. Who knows maybe oekaki style art will make a comeback

it was made by staff

I'm genuinely baffled that my submission even made it to the archive despite its quality, Not to mention how many people seemed to like it... I hope to see other cool events in future April Fools.

I'm glad some kind of permanent solution was found for this. Also kinda surprised my pic survived the purge

This seems like a great compromise between having them cluttering up the site and deleting them forever. Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how it was chosen which posts were kept in the furid_(e621) tag and which were relegated to the gallery? Was there a score or favorite threshold? Surely staff didn't go through all 8k+ posts by hand lol.

It's ~4.5k posts, and from what I can tell, it looks like the score threshold may have been -12 (which only 4 posts were below).
