I can't find a way to see the tags that were normally on the left of images. How do I bring back that tag list? Is it in options somewhere?

yes, go to the search page and turn off the full screen mode, there is a button for it under the search bar

That response is now partially invalid.
No reason to go to the search page, the full-screen button is right under the searchbar.
