Topic: Animal tail/ear/etc tag applicability question

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

For various animal body part tags, is it really necessary to include them when the species depicted in the image actually has those parts as normal anatomy?

(What prompted this post was rat_tail and rat_ears tags on an image with [edit:an anthro] rat character, to illustrate what I mean.)

I can see it for characters whose species normally doesn't have those body parts, or for chimeras pieced together from multiple species (examples off the top of my head, not a complete list of possibilities), but to me it seems a bit excessive otherwise.

no, its for humanoids only i believe, maybe for mismatched anatomy on furries (ie snake with cat ears) but for that one I'm not sure

rat_tail specifically might be different since its a disting kind of tail? but im not sure

Generally those tags are for humanoids, humans with the ears and/or tail of a particular animal. It doesn't really make much sense to use it for regular ferals or anthros of the given species, as it would be largely redundant.
