Topic: Make the "FurID" a side feature outside April Fools

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

Y'all almost got me spooked.
But the MS Paint-esque doodle maker got me hooked.

Although I'm using desktop, and I have MS Paint,
I do hope you'd make make the "FurID" a fun and welcome feature outside of April Fool's Day.

Who knows how many drawings can be done with simple features.

Not gonna lie.
Considering it.

Please it would be great if you could use them in blips, kinda like pictochat on the DS.

I made a html canvas trying to recreate the one on here but it doesn’t give me the same serotonin lol

Honestly it'd be a lot of fun if you just stuck it off to the side somewhere as an optional thing for people to engage with. Maybe keep a rolling catalog of the most recent 1-200 drawings and/or retain any that reach some minimal score threshold, though I imagine that'd make a lot more work for you.

If you do keep it I'm begging you to expand the palette to 16 colors. Nothing fancy, I just think a brown and 1 or 2 shades of gray would be a welcome addition.

Yeah it's awesome to see art from others using the same tools you are, kinda like Drawception but without the telephone game
I'm imagining a standalone feature would be like the E6/E9 equivalent of short-form content and I'd love to see that lmao

I drew one version on my phone, and then redrew more or less the same thing on my desktop when I was finally able to.

Then today I thought of a very different version of my fursona I wanted to draw, but it's no longer available.

The 'Wayback Machine' has a copy of the site from yesterday (multiple, in fact), but doesn't seem to actually include the FurID thing.

I'd love to be able to 'authenticate' at least one more version of my fursona to show people. I could use Krita or something, but the line antialiasing and whatnot wouldn't be the same and that'd make it lose some of its charm.

I really appreciated the FurID thing, it nudged me to try to draw again for the first time in a while and the whole experience of seeing everyone's ID being uploaded was a lot of fun. It'd be great to keep it integrated into the site somehow- maybe as an option to change your avatar in the settings?

Sadly, neither the internet archive nor archive.is snapshots could keep the furID functionality. We'll have to wait for either a fan or official remake.

A friend of mine "plucked the code out of [e6's] GitHub" and recreated on their site.

If you're interested, you can find it here: https://highlysuspect.agency/furid/

Yes, I know the domain looks kinda like a suspicious link example from an Internet safety PSA, don't worry.

I like the idea of using it as a captcha to vet bots and spammers and trolls. Maybe when accounts are created it can be a tool to verify people understand how to tag and post things. I just really miss oekaki pfp on forums and think it's more personal than your favorite reaction images or your favorite yiff. Not for everyone but it's more vanilla than using posts as avatars and it's something other image boards and archives allow.

Most accounts weren't made for posting/tagging. I'm not sure if someone who just wants favorites and the occasional comment would want to bother with such a system.

I'm all for it as an addition to the site, though I wouldn't make it mandatory again as it was during the April Fools' period. I would definitely keep the option to save the result to disk so it can be uploaded later, if the creator so chooses.

In addition, what others had suggested with more colors and having a separate page, I'd like for the FurID to have bigger resolutions.
I seem to observe the resolution in pictures like mine are barely passable for submission, so I hope there'd be more features.

Not gonna lie, I genuinely love the FurID as a feature. I never tried it on mobile before, but I assumed some tried it on mobile, and I would bet it's a nice feature to doodle on like MS Paint.
