Topic: Is the Crossgender category dead or forgotten?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I just saw an Oro post with male Loona and that got me thinking about the crossgender tag for canonical characters as I added the ftm version to it
I then came across this while foolishly thinking I could just go in a fix any edge cases of the missing tag:
https://e621.net/posts?tags=loona_%28helluva_boss%29+-female+-crossgender

Holy shit that tag family is never being used lmao, that's just for Loona
Is that something people just don't do anymore or is it just that badly forgotten?

If it's missing, go and tag it. You don't have to ask the world whether a tag is dead or forgotten, just because nobody uses it enough.

For that in specific, it notably seems to largely be gynomorph Loona missing the crossgender tag. Gynomorphs in particular have a habit of being considered a "feminine sex", as basically female+penis, so female characters are less likely to be thought of as crossgender when depicted that way. That Loona is a popular character also helps explain the large number of posts missing such a tag.

That's the entire point that I was specifically linking to Loona posts missing it, because it's a very large example.

And I was explaining that kind of example is a bit over-representative of the issue. Yes, crossgender is undertagged (every tag is to some degree; some people just don't tag well and some posts end up missing obvious tags that no one's noticed to fix), but not so much as to call it "dead" or "badly forgotten", IMO.

Use the pinned topic #23571 if you want additional help with a tagging project.

How is pointing you to the primary location for tagging projects being an ass? You are literally asking about tags which to be applied broadly need tagging projects, go look if one exists else start one yourself if you really want the tag to be used more
Else, what is the point of this topic

I think it might be good idea to take a break from e6 and hit the gym or something to blow off some steam.

If you don't need help with tagging, then you can simply not post anything about it.
Nobody is going to help you and you can have all the fun tagging by yourself.

Fascinating how fast you forgot that the topic of this forum post was genuinely asking if the crossgender category of tags are just no longer in use or not.

Sorry if making a forum post to ask a valid question that I couldn't find by searching the other forums is too disrupting to "the world", as you so politely put it.

And you got answers, both to help zero-in on the bigger problem area (popular females as gynomorphs) instead of a general broad crossgender check, as well as the thread to go to for setting up a tagging project. Calling people names and telling them to go away in response for helping isn't conducive to discussion.

"for helping" sure man, that's what you'd call his first response?

Okay I will freely admit that I think I did not see this specific reply. I am sorry. That is a genuine reply. Thank you for actually giving me an answer.

The fact that you were quote "foolishly thinking I could just go in a fix any edge cases of the missing tag" means you already know beforehand that the tags were still in use and had the intention to include it into posts that were missing it.

Then, you began doubting yourself after viewing one popular character and began asking everyone whether or not the tags were left for "dead" or "badly forgotten".
From which, you got my reply to just continue tagging it and ask on the pinned thread for help, which you immediately snub as me being an ass.

In any case, no tag is officially dead until it gets invalidated or aliased away to invalid_tag. Otherwise, you can also search the forum itself on any existing topic talking about crossgender and whether or not there is talk about getting it invalidated.

You're an absolute madlad
I was looking at post changes an hour ago and I saw you were going on a tagging spree
I only wish there was a super fast way to add even just one specific tag to posts from the search results window
Just the tedium of clicking on each post, scrolling down to the Edit button, then adding the tag (I do have the frequent tag list active at least so I don't have to type it out), then saving before going back to the results

if you go under the search bar and go to the dropdown under mode you can change it to edit mode : )

if only i could edit more than 150 posts and hour, cause that took like 10 hours lol (not really, about 6ish but ya know xP)

Oh my god you just opened up a third eye for me, I completely forgot that that was even there
My e6 experience is different now, bless you and thank you <3

Just a heads-up, if you are going to edit tags quickly like this, be absolutely sure that the tags you add are actually relevant to the posts you are editing.
That means you must be extremely sure from the small thumbnail that this is the right post to tag, as opposed to blindly clicking on every single post and trusting your search query is sufficient in removing any outliers.

People have gotten into trouble blanket-tagging like this, if it was discovered that they have caused a lot of mistags.

I only use the edit page to quick edit, i look at every image beforehand, its just faster fro me to use the edit page then edit on each individual page ^^

Re621's hover zoom feature is good for this

honestly wonder if a similar feature could be added to edit mode by default just have it load up the 850 sample. it would be nice to 1) be able to see more of the image when tagging this way and 2) actually be certain which post you're currently tagging, since currently, you can't be 100% sure you didn't misclick.

Oh yeah I'll definitely take care to avoid that lol
Even though the Chrome extensions to do the Zoom-on-mouse-over trick are no longer being maintained, they still work on most e6 thumbnails to expand the post to full-size (or fit screen at minimum). I use Imagus and Imagus Mod

(Also if anyone knows of an extension or downloadable mod to Chrome that does this that isn't deprecated, please let me know because it's showing its age)
