Topic: Tag alias: sinfonie_(that1persn) -> sinfonie

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #75979 sinfonie_(that1persn) -> sinfonie_(stray_prey) is pending approval.

Reason: Someone renamed the old sinfonie_(oc) tag to sinfonie_(that1persn) recently. I'd prefer it just be any variation of either only sinfonie or sinfonie_(oc) or even sinfonie_(stray_prey). She's not my character, she's my friend's, but given I'm the only one who draws her, it can easily be assumed by any outsider that she belongs to me.

But I don't like sinfonie_(that1persn) because it refers to a name that I don't actually use as my artist handle which creates unnecessary confusion. The existing precedent is for flare_(stray_prey) and sunbeam_(stray_prey) or _(oc)

_(oc)

shouldn't be used for the same reason original_character shouldn't be; it's a term that can mean its own opposite (either referring to a fan character for some preexisting work, or a regular character not attached to any preexisting work). It's ultimately no better than the _(character) suffix, which only needs to be used if it can be mistaken for an artist name, some object, or some other non-character thing. If it's a name that can realistically be used by multiple different characters, the tag should have a suffix for the owner (character_name_(owner_name)). Since you say she's not your character, it shouldn't have you as the suffix, but whoever owns the character.

Sinfonie is unique enough on its own I think. There are no artists or other characters using that tag.

Given that the person who owns the character doesn't use this website and I'm the only person that uploads art of her across this and several others, it's just easier to associate her with myself. The person she belongs to does not maintain much of a public presence. I'm fine with just sinfonie since it's a unique enough name that I don't think there is much concern for duplicates. But if the character is going to be attached to my name, I'd really prefer it at least actually match the name I use as an artist handle and already has precedent with. Weird reason for you to downvote it. Almost like you didn't read the justification.

They downvoted because it isn’t your character so it shouldn’t have your suffix. I suggest aliasing to sinfonie as stated above that way it doesn’t have an incorrect owner listed and it’s a unique name without a suffix attached.
