Topic: ask something upload limit

Posted under General

i want ask something about upload because i get up load limit i read maybe think[maybe wrong] can upload 30 img per week for one person right ? but i upload 1-2 per week and today i want upload image but reach limit last week i try to upload but is limit that i can not any upload image last week that why i ask it reset upload limit every week or wait until user upload limit reset

The 30 image limit is an hourly limit, not a weekly one. It is completely separate from all other account limits: a user with an upload limit of 100 could have up to 100 pending posts simultaneously, but they can only upload 30 in an hour (to be real, if you can't spend at least two minutes on tagging an image, you probably don't need to be uploading 30 posts in an hour.)

Your account has been set to an upload limit of 0 because you uploaded 57 posts that were replaced with better/larger versions by other users, and a further 10 have been deleted entirely.
Your upload limit is calculated as follows:

  • Everybody starts with +10, so you start with 10 too.
  • Every 10 approved posts counts as +1. You have 68 approved posts, so this is +6.
  • Every 4 replaced/deleted posts counts as -1 towards your upload limit. You have 67 in total, so this is -16.

10 + 6 - 16 = 0. You have lost the ability to upload due to your posts being consistently deleted or replaced. Unless an admin resets your upload limit manually, this will not change.

You can upload 30 images per hour, not per week, assuming you have a high enough upload limit. That goes for everyone on this site, staff and member alike.

Looking at your stats, it seems you've had a lot of replacements due to grabbing sample images instead of making sure you get the full sized original versions. According to the equation for determining the upload limit, penalized replacements are treated like deletions and are weighted differently from approvals. For every 10 approved posts, your upload limit rises by 1, but for every 4 deleted and/or replaced posts, your upload limit goes down 1. That means you need 10 approvals for every 4 deletions/replacements just to stay even. Your deletions and replacements together are just 1 away from the number of your approvals. You simply can't post anymore because your upload limit has fallen to 0.

At this point, you could message an Admin and ask for your upload limit to be reset to 10, but they might not want to since you have so many replaced posts counting against you. It depends on if they can see that you've learned not to upload sample images instead of originals.

(Ah, Lafcadio, you zippy lad. And better explained, too.)

Do not "edit" the original picture to make it "better".
We prioritise on keeping the original version and will delete/replace any trivial third-party edits.

If you had taken a look at your replaced posts, you will see the various reasons why your posts got replaced.
Your posts were mainly deleted simply because they were not of the highest publicly available quality.
You were uploading the small preview sizes or low-quality images from other boorus, instead of uploading the highest quality available at the source.

Please read howto:sites and sources if you need help finding the best sources to download from and getting the highest quality available there.
Specifically, you can refer to the Pixiv section on how to get the best quality version from the site.

I will put it in the most simplest of terms:

  • Do not edit the picture because you think it looks better.
  • Do not upload preview samples of images.

We only accept:

If you continue to post preview/compressed samples or edited/cropped images, your upload limit will not be restored or be increased.

Basically, on this website, we treat each image similar to collecting for a library or museum. We want to have exactly what the artist gave, as closely as possible.

If you want to save information about an item, like the source of it, you should not alter the actual item. Instead, you would provide documentation with the item. This type of information is called "metadata". When posting, this website can save metadata separately. It is displayed next to the image, either on the sidebar (below the tags), or below the image, in the description. It is not necessary to change the image itself.

This website groups images using a "pool" or "set", such as this pool. When you click an image, there is a bar at the top to change pages more quickly. You can also use Mobile Gestures (if you turn them on).

You may have encountered some other websites that change the size of the image to save Internet costs, such as shrinking or compressing the image into a different format, or displaying a shrunken image first (which you have to click for a bigger version). If this happens, the other website may give you a version of the image that they think will be acceptable for your use. However, that image is actually lower quality than the original, and you will not get the original image when you attempt to save it. When this happens, others will often notice, so the image will be replaced with a better quality version that was not touched by the other website.

I can understand you might want to create a different way of viewing the art, such as the single-image merged version, or a way to add more information about the art. But to do that, you may want to look for a general image hosting website, or even make your own website. Note that most artists will dislike having their images edited by someone else, even if a viewer considers it an improvement. It is considered good etiquette to avoid changing the image, and only change the "user interface" like the website around the image.

No, this is permanent unless an admin overrides it. It's a way to punish and help prevent exactly what you did.

Message an admin and ask to get your upload limit restored.
