The new layout caught me so off guard honestly, I agree. I really hope they add a feature to toggle between different preferences, the new one just seems... ugly, with all due respect.
Not gonna happen for the official UI, but I guess we can try to be the change we want and just use a different one.

Considering re621 is maintained by the same person making the current ui changes, I wouldn't get your hopes up there (unless you're just pointing out that full overhaul scripts are possible, which then good luck getting someone to make and maintain that)

For point 1, yeah. For point 2, it was more pointing out that they exist.
