Could also be short for veteran, too.

Alias to Disambiguation.
This seems like a prime example of an unnecessary disambiguation. It could also mean veteran, but has anybody ever used the tag for that? It seems to be almost exclusively used for veterinarians, so it would probably be better to direct users to the tag they were probably trying to use instead of getting a disambiguation tag that (most likely) someone else has to fix later.

yeah, looking at the history it seems to really only have been used for veterinarians with a few instances of misspellings of wet and vest.
A couple uses also seem to be just a vet's office, without a veterinarian visible. The majority seem to have someone that could be a veterinarian, though, and it should be relatively quick to remove the tag from those erroneous posts before approving the alias.

That’s also been a problem with the full veterinarian tag too, though, so not really a problem with this alias. It doesn’t help that "veterinarian" is commonly used as shorthand for "veterinarian’s office".
I presume we're thoroughly vetting this tag?
