I'm slowly working on tagging images I've got saved to my computer with e-621 tags.
Many more than I realized only feature the lower body.
There are some terms that are not considered portraits, but they all focus on a specific area of the body.
(E.G. torso shot, crotch shot, and foot shot, to name a few)
With portrait, "Images that capture something of a person's likeness, personality or mood, from their facial expression or body language", you have:
headshot portrait - head + neck
bust portrait - shoulders/upper chest and higher
half-length portrait - waist and higher
three-quarter portrait - thighs/ankles and higher
full-length portrait - entire character
I'd like to know what people would think of the following tag ideas.
corportrait, combines the latin term for body (corpus), with the suffix -trait. It would capture something of a person's likeness, personality or mood, from their body language specifically, or otherwise be used to describe images where the head is not visible.
Sub-tags of corportrait would include:
full-length corportrait - entire character excluding the head, that is, the neck and lower (my thought is that the highest that can be shown and still count would be the chin or lower mouth)
two-third corportrait - chest or shoulders and lower
three-quarter corportrait - midriff or mid-back and lower (my thought here is that it would be from the bottom of the sternum (the costal arch) and lower, meaning for characters with breasts, underboob would still qualify for the tag]]
half-length corportrait - waist/butt and lower
While I intend to use this invented term and sub-tags for my personal projects, I would like to see what people's opinions are of this concept and implementation into E621, considering that invented terms to get used here from time to time.
