Is this really meme clothing? It’s just popular clothing from what I can tell.
What even are forbidden pants? The KYM article shows 4 different pants in the first 4 media entries. Some pictures were posted to the GirlsInFlarePants sub-reddit, and someone commented "can’t believe the tik tok teens have just discovered yoga pants and they’re calling them flared leggings I hate it here", making it sound like they're just yoga pants/flared leggings. I can't find anything about what makes them distinct, so should probably just be aliased to yoga_pants or pants.

They're definitely distinctive from yoga_pants. They're tight fabric pants with intricate patterns (in majority based on antique central asian textiles/rugs), most importantly including straight/vertical lines, that all work to accentuate curves.
Yeah maybe it's a bit loose of a definition, but it's a pretty distinct pants type that warrants its own tag. I do agree that "forbidden_pants" isn't a very good name, I'm also fine with unifying it as flare_pants or smth else, but I've also seen a handful of artists specifically drawing characters wearing this type of pants with a comment along the sentiment of "look I drew X wearing this popular type of pants", which leans into meme_clothing.
