Perhaps it should be renamed to lewd_pictographics? To me, lewd symbolism sounds like it could apply to hand gestures and certain objects too, anything symbolic of being lewd.

I agree with this, actually. Either that, or lewd_pictographics implies this tag, and lewd_symbolism is expanded to allow more.
