Topic: Proposing a dehumanization/depersonalization tag

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

After following discussion about pool #30860 in the lore tag thread, I'd like to propose a "dehumanization" tag (or "depersonalization" as a furry-inclusive equivalent). I believe such a tag would also be useful for sapient-to-nonsapient transformations.

The main question is if this is distinct enough from degradation and humiliation. I believe the fact that the user in the above thread was unpleasantly surprised by the pool's content despite enjoying petplay warrants a separate tag, but it may be too specific.

A related topic is cultural genocide, which is also depicted in "Decline of the Feline". The genocide tag is currently only used for violent genocide, and only for 13 posts at that. I've probationally added the tag to relevant posts in "Decline of the Feline", but that may be considered inappropriate for people looking for/avoiding genocide content. That said, cultural genocide seems such a niche topic I doubt a separate tag is warranted.

Edited to add: I wasn't aware when I wrote this that cruelty and suffering are extant tags. They may be sufficient for individuals suffering dehumanization, but cultural genocide remains an open question. Something like "mass suffering" may be warranted, though I believe that's a poor name ("mass" could be interpreted as anything from a small group to an entire world, which is uselessly broad).

Updated

I apologize for the double post, but I found a comment on post #4134746 that I believe warrants a bump.

Yeah, out of all of Conrie's various comics this is the one I like the least. I really do enjoy public humiliation and whatnot and everything this comic is about fetish wise but the baseline premise of masking a whole species non-people just taints the whole thing (but is also a fetish in and of itself so I get it but don't agree with it).
At least with the other comics it's either voluntary or forced on the individuals so this one hits different.

This sentiment demonstrates that mass suffering is meaningfully different from individual suffering to some users, which provides at least some justification for the establishment of a relevant tag.
