The "mistress" can also be a gynomorph/herm or identify as female.

is this tag ever added to posts related to infidelity? because, colloquially, I think the most common definition of "mistress" would be "a woman with which someone is cheating". or at least, with zero context, that's what I first think of.

Better to disambiguate. I'm with dba afish, the term generally means a woman someone is seeing on the side. I'm not sure I've heard of "mistress" as referring to a female that is specifically dominant (they can be dominant, but don't have to be; a woman that is expressly dominant sounds more like a dominatrix).
