Topic: The ''Epic_poggers_amogus'' problem

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

Epic_poggers_amongus is one of the weirdest tags on the site.

It is meant originally as a reference to this post: https://e621.net/posts/3657125?q=epic_poggers_amongus

The issue is that for about a year it was tagged on every post with: You only see the legs and there is a implied penetration off-screen. Even when they had no relation to the meme.

It is best said by the admin spe here: https://e621.net/forum_topics/44257

It is true that most of the posts under the tag currently aren’t direct references and aren’t really anything more than sex scenes cropped to the characters’ legs, so you are welcome to create a new tag for the concept and move the relevant posts over to it.

Now, there remains the question of what to call it. It’s hard to think of anything that isn’t particularly ambiguous or unwieldy

So the tag kept being the same. As nobody has been able to offer a suitable replacement.

One day 4 months ago a user decided to remove it on the post that did not directly reference the meme. https://e621.net/posts/3657125
Can't really blame them. It was a INCREDIBELY bad tag.
The problem was that the user just removed the tag from the posts and did not offer a suitable replacement.

Which leaves us in a weird flux where the pose can now be found in either ''Leg_focus'' or ''Dangling_doggystyle'' with neither of those being a perfect description. Nor the posts being perfectly tagged.

----

Whenever a post with this ''theme'' gets traction there is a discussion about it in the comments. (example https://e621.net/posts/5241424) For most people ''Epic_poggers_amongus'' is the most known name for it and there is general air of confusion around this topic.
The lack of a central tag also means that the ''theme'' is bleeding into semi related but inaccurate tags creating a mess.

Not to mention there is occasional tag wars about it. With the ''epic'' tag being applied and then removed.

----

Suggestions/options:

1. Make ''Epic_poggers_amongus'' the enforced tag for even non meme posts. (Arguably the weirdest option, but there is something to be said about the brand name the tag has gathered, despite my loathing of the name)
2. Use the tag ''cropped_legs'' as the name for this position. (Only name I could come up with that does not sound like it is described by a 80 year old doctor) (note 2: ''Cropped_legs'' is currently being used as a mistag for ''half-length_portrait'')
3. Find another suitable name for it (Many have tried but nobody has gotten a good idea for it in 18 months, nevertheless I welcome suggestions)

Updated

To start, epic_poggers_amongus (ඞ) is a meme tag, and meme tags are meme tags. Meme tags tag memes. The over-application of a meme tag to a derivative concept or a tangentially related concept dilutes the meme and poisons the shared space. I don't see people having any issue with not applying a_cat_is_fine_too to any domestic_cat + feral + rating:e posts.

The current cropped_legs_sex is weak. I think the creation of overly specific tags for combined scenarios should be limited to times where it would be a unique combination.
I think the use of "crop" is incorrect since there's no source with the dangly bits being put together being hoarded by the artist.

Personally, I'd use a "lower_half-length_portrait" and support it by adding it to associated wiki pages in the portrait group. Do not implicate leg_focus. Combine lower_half-length_portrait + dangling_doggystyle for the meme, implicating these from the meme tag. Perhaps dangling_doggystyle needs some TLC as well?

It's been hell trying to keep that tag under control. It's been so bad the wiki had to have the warning

The more this gets tagged for random felines, the more likely it is to get invalidated. Stick to meme-related content if you wish to keep the tag.

And it was still flooded on pages and pages of inappropriate posts despite that clear warning. It was about to get invalidated before a former admin went through and cleared it out from all non-applicable posts a couple years ago, and kept it cleared out as people continued trying to apply it to random non-safe feline posts (plenty that weren't even feral/bestiality). It's been continually removed from inapplicable posts by others since then. Even today, just before posting this response, the tag was on posts it shouldn't be:
(now cleaned).

Ah, so if there's going to be implications from epic_poggers_amongus (ඞ), then it'd start with dangling_legs. After that, everything gets blurry. I think the meme tag got traction because of three overlapping blind spots.
For the position itself, it's got dangling_doggystyle which has no wiki entry. Alternately, you could use reverse_stand_and_carry_position which is usually used with legs pulled upwards.
Neither reverse_stand_and_carry_position or stand_and_carry_position make any claim to whether a receiving character would be lifted and a penetrating character would be lifting, because these tags are used with carrying.
With this, dangling_doggystyle has to take a stance. Lifted seems to be the beloved tag. It has examples and a clear description leading to lifting.
Lifting however, seems to be abandoned as a broken disambiguation tag. Its wiki page currently shows "Examples" : " " post #2520280
I've just started working through three pages of lifting solo, since it's overloaded to every clothing_lift (or raised_clothing) and any weightlifter who's weightlifting.

So: lower_half-length_portrait, dangling_doggystyle, lifting_another, and a perpetual fight against memery?
edit: lifting_another is a tag? That's incidentally helpful.
